PD Bannisters - Bradford

P.D.Bannister is a family owned business which was started in 1973 as a milk round delivering to the local doorsteps in and around Bradford. Peter Bannister saw a market delivering parcels and incorporated that with the milk business. As demand grew so did the beginnings of P.D Bannister Haulage.

Peter introduced his son David Bannister into the business and between them started to run 7.5 tonne vehicles followed by 16 tonne rigid vehicles which became the backbone of the company although still running from the back yard of the family home. In 1992 The 1st warehouse was a 10,000 sq ft mill and the site housed the fleet of vehicles which included a new freight forwarding contract.

The company began to change dramatically with the introduction of John Bannister who was brought in to manage the day to day running of the now expanding fleet of vehicles. John brought in a wealth of experience from the days of being the Transport Manager for two multinational companies.

Peter and Wife Betty decided to go into warehousing on a larger scale with the introduction of Pegasus which was to be used for the storage of drinks for a local soft drinks manufacturer. Storage grew with the introduction of several more storage facilities in and around Bradford storing drinks, wool, freight forwarding and now chemicals.

David soon began to learn that warehousing went hand in hand with consolidation and cross docking. David had to increase and strengthen the company so he introduced a new fleet of articulated vehicles to accommodate the demand and deliver a quality service that is second to non. With the fleet ranging from Vans to varying sized rigid through to articulated vehicles, same day and next day services can be offered as standard.
